How Quasar Works

With additional Sensors placed on the bike, the device wirelessly receives telemetry data such as tire PRESSURE and TEMPERATURES, both internal and external, which are crucial to their Performance. An advanced microprocessor processes all the acquired information and estimates, in real time and conservatively, the amplitude of the safe lean angle (L.A.R.) based on theoretical Adherence conditions. Through specific graphics, the tool ADAPTIVELY depicts the varying limits of the critical lean angle based on the estimated GRIP, also considering the type of tire compound defined during SET-UP via a dedicated initialization APP. The Driver also has the ability to record telemetric and graphical data of his session, using the GPS installed inside the device.

Let's go into the details...

The performance level of your tires depends on many factors starting with their type, compound and intended use: road or track. But the factors that most influence a tire are Temperature and Pressure. In particular, the higher the performance required according to the type of use, the narrower the Thermal Window that identifies the "Operating Temperature" around which the Tire expresses the best of its characteristics in terms of Grip.

A state-of-the-art road sport tire, which is also generally used on the track, shows an "Exercise Bell" similar to the one shown above.
Once the type of tire (road or track) and its compound (soft, medium, hard) have been set via APP, this curve will be processed in real time by QUASAR providing with adaptive graphics, the narrowest Lean Angle Range (A or C) or wider (B), depending on the estimated Temperature within the tire compound.

On the left, a Lean Angle Range can be observed, which, with the tire in optimal temperature and condition, has an amplitude that reaches about 60°.

In the center, the Device simulates the "Cold Warning" condition in which, although wireless transmission is enabled, thermal data are not detected and the Lean Angle Range narrows to an amplitude of less than 20° as in the cold tire condition.

On the right, the Device, in Racing configuration, shows graphical and numerical information continuously to the Pilot.

How to Install Quasar

QUASAR can be installed on the motorcycle via a multiple modular interface, developed by Ellea Racing depending on the type of steering plate in use:

Steering plate without center hole - Universal screw type A adapter

The Type A is dedicated to motorcycles without a center hole in the steering plate and can be connected to the most common connection systems on the market such as GoPro TM systems

Steering plate with center hole - Universal screw adapter type B

Type B is dedicated to motorcycles with a center hole in the steering plate and includes an expandable dowel adapter that provides a solid, stable connection between QUASAR and your bike.

Installation of TTPMS sensors

External TTPMS sensors are installed by simply screwing them onto tire valves, reading tire pressure directly to QUASAR in real time and while warming up with thermal blankets for optimal setup before use.

Installation of IR sensors

A new and innovative generation of compact and intuitive IR sensors, in the final stages of development by Ellea Racing, can be used to detect the external surface temperatures of your tires. Like TTPMS, you will be able to screw them in after drilling a small hole in the front and rear fenders in the center position for the ADVANCED version or on both sides (left and right) for the RACING version. Through a specific APP (under development for IOS/Android), you can then match them to your QUASAR.
